I went straight from V1 to V6, and other than the minor problem with e-reader, I've not had any problems at all. Text msgs are as fast as I imagine possible, and I've had no ringer problems at all.
I haven't tried using the phone as an alarm clock, so can't report on that.
Also haven't tried tethering via USB, I use wifi router instead. I did a speed test a while back while still on stock Sprint ROM, using BlueTooth, USB, and WiFi, and WiFi was the fastest of the bunch. Surprised me, I was expecting USB to be the fastest. But that's what testing is for, so I'd know instead of just thinking.
