I mean if you think about teen audience, how many don't know how to use a computer? they all do, but when they picked up those windows mobile phones and it lagged up like crazy and didn't make phone calls cause they had another app running they just gave up on windows mobile.
If microsoft would have enforced better hardware from them like they do for WP7 now from day 1, microsoft would have been on higher on the list.

MS is 1st and foremost just a software company. They never had hardware when they started. So it's just a chain of events that eventually leads to WP7. Time changes. Apple set the example on how to run a Phone. Open an app store and make sure that the OS and Phone's reliability comes first. Even if they need to eliminate functions like multitasking.
It seems to work for Apple. Now MS wants a piece of it. They might lose a lot of "us". But they will certainly gain a lot of "them" WHich will bring them the sales.
