Re: What do you think of Windows Phone 7?
I think I'm probably the only one who feels this way but....
I'm really looking forward to WP7S! I'm going to be sure to get it as soon as Sprint offers up a phone with it.
I absolutely love how the UI looks. I've used a ZuneHD and if my phone acts the same way, it's going to be a welcome change. The UI is right up my alley in the aesthetics department. I love that everything is flat and graphical. I love the use of typography and the cut off text is absolutely an excellent way to indicate that if you move around, you'll see more data. I think that Apple's "realistic" style is so dated. WP7S's design is the first thing that really feels like it belongs in the year 2010.
There are so many people out there complaining about how you won't be able to customize it and how awful it will be. For me, the only reason I build my own custom ROM is to get rid of every trace of HTC's stuff from my phone and then to fix the problems with WM. If I can have a phone that works well right out of the box that I won't have to do a bunch of stuff to, I'll more than welcome it! Who really thinks that doing registry edits on your phone is acceptable? Just for the record, I hate the iPhone. I hate the stupid grid of icons and the UX design. Of course, if you want to be able to make your phone as ugly and slow as you choose, Android is waiting for you with open arms and Windows Mobile Classic is going to be around for a long while.
Of course, there's still a lot of questions to be answered. Is there a file system? How extensible is the system? Can I replace Bing with Google if I want? Hopefully, they'll address everything at MIX next month.
I forget where I heard this but apparently they're going to enable Visual C# 2010 Express for WP7S development. If that's true, there's no reason why there won't be a ton of apps.
