Re: [ Kitchen ][ 2-8 ][ v1.51 ][ 23529 / 21891 / 21056 ] Calkulin's Visual WVGA Kitch

I've been cooking/flashing my brains out for the last 5 days or so.

I had a fairly stable ROM with 1.5 and 28233 but I could not resist some of the newer goodies coming along.

I tried the new 2012 stuff posted and it was a real mess (may be partially my fault). I noticed most of the "Options Folders" were empty. Like Transparent Curtain etc. Then I looked in 1.51 Kitchen and they are empty their too. It also had "Options" like Disable Flip Clock etc. I didn't want a disabled clock. So scratching head I deleted all the empty ones. After that there was only a few folders left like BG4All (which I normally have off), Manila Engine etc. So I added the Manila 2012 Engine etc. Named as Manila 2012 to keep them all unique and kept all my other normal "Manila Options" (White Clock, Transparent Slider etc.) Well, I ended up with no Clock and No slider. End of that experiment. I only wanted to play with the ereader stuff which I probably would never use in practice.

Then someone posted a new 28xxx build. Well I've had good luck with 28xxx builds. That looks safe. It all built fine but did really weird stuff. iGuidance would not run at all !! Even with Sense UI disabled. Sometimes when I tapped the phone button. It appeared the phone would go offline for moment then back on (That's what antenna Icon did anyway). I know this was a patched build because it had 28233 Voice Command in it.

So I'm back on 28233 and all seems good again. Except I seem to have the slow answer issue back again. But I have not completely tweaked it yet and shut off some things I normally shut off.

I also noticed that if you use Rapid Charge you get 1% Battery Meter. I swear the battery does worse with this. It may be psychological seeing the 1% steps though.

For grins I decided to try No D3D drivers to see what would happen and I figured I get the drivers that came with the build (possibly most stable) or that I don’t actually do anything that uses D3D drivers. So far it’s made no difference having nothing and everything seems ok.

I also believe some ROMs are complete builds and some are incomplete builds patched up with pieces from older builds. I think the complete builds are more stable.
