I looked into this yesterday. It is possible with root. However when I tried to use the market to search for the application it could not be found. If you can find the package out on the net somewhere and install it using the app manager program that should do it for you. In the meantime you can use PDAnet seems to be the one people roll with usb tethering.

As far as a charger you can get them for like 14.99 at target. I think you can use the HTC one (its new probably in the stores stock room waiting for the spring set) or the LG should have the tip you need as well.
