Some of us like the stock Windows Mobile popup KeyBoard. As opposed to HTC's ones that were added. On soft reboot it always defaulted to the HTC KeyBoard. The buttons are still too small to use with your finger (especially in portrait mode) so I end up pulling out the stylus anyway. HTC KeyBoard has a less standard layout (like the tiny space key way off to the lower right) while the standard Windows Mobile KeyBoard does a fairly good job on layout and I'm used to it.
You can choose what ever keyboard you want. But for some applications it flips back to the HTC KeyBoard or the HTC T9 Keyboard. It's very slow to switch the KeyBoards and I only use the stock Windows KeyBoard.
So now with this change, it will, on boot, default to the stock Windows KeyBoard and never has a mind of it's own and switches to T9 or the bigger button (poor layout still too small to be useful with phat fingers) HTC KeyBoard. The ADDED HTC SIPs is effectively uninstalled.
I can type fastest and most accurate with the stylus on the stock popup keyboard. The same one that has existed since before slide out keyboards were the in thing. Now that the slide out keyboards are out, I'm back to the orginal popup keyboard I never had trouble with in the first place.
IMHO, no soft keyboard especially in portrait mode works better than the stock windows mobile popup keyboard that requires the stylus.
I even owned an iPhone for a while (which has a larger better touch screen) was a joke in portrait mode (Touch is worse and requires the stylus). With stylus it's fine and I can live with that just fine. So I optimized the phone for that mode of input.
Other folks seem to want the same thing see for example
