You've gotta weigh the difference in price between paying for the phone and the price difference on the plans, and you're the only one who can determine what's better for your budget, paying more now and less monthly, etc. If you're looking to upgrade to wm7, I wouldn't hold my breath, there's nothing in concrete about what it's even gonna be and when it will be released (although we may know more this coming week after WMC). As far as 6.5, there's no need to wait for Sprint to release it, there's plenty of custom ROM's out here that do more and run better than what we can imagine Sprints 6.5 is going to be like.
