If you pay attention to sprints latest marketing, they've already put the Hero in the rear view mirror, but yet we stay loyal and continue to purchase the new phone sprint offers. We talk on the forums about how unhappy we are but yet we continue to give sprint our money. Its time we, the customers seriously consider moving on from Sprint.
We have no date for an update, but you see and hear news about all the other carriers moving to 2.0 or 2.1. I'm tired of waiting.

It's also not reasonable to say that the Hero is "on the back burner." They're actively preparing a major OS revision for the phone and told us it will be available to us in the first half of this year. It's not like we have no idea if anything is ever coming or if we have no idea when it might be available.
2.1 is on the way. We will have it in a matter of months, if that. Be a little patient.
Oh and as for the "other carriers moving to 2.0 or 2.1,"
no other carrier has moved a 1.5 or 1.6 phone to 2.0 or 2.1. Chew on that for a while.
