You can try to delete the sync profile and re-do the server configuration, but that removes anything you have been sync'ing. So you run the risk that if it still isn't working you will not be able to get your info back on the phone.
With the people I have helped locally I have been at least to get contacts to sync. Main problem has been with calendar and email.
Did a quick hunt at the Google Sync help center... no new info. As I stated in my first post, I deleted my profile, set up the server configurations again, everything has been work fine for a week with no issues.
