Re: Who plans to go HD2?

To all you andriod lovers i'll give it to you andriod is defintely very nice and if windows drops the ball with windows phone 7 i will definitely get myself an android device but i will almost certainly NEVER buy an iPhone. But now lets state some facts and be honest here. Windows mobile 6.1 which most of our tp2's shipped with was an awesome os from a functionality stand point and the leader in terms of a business device but lacked the pretty visual aspects and finger friendliness of the newer OS's. But with that said i can pretty much do anything with wm 6.1 that you can with andriod 2.1 or the iPhone.

Now some will say how much faster they can do certian tasks and how much prettier it looks. Well 2.1 was JUST released and the hardware it was released on is FAR superior to what we have for our tp2's. These newer devices are actually the next generation of both hardware and software. So for the tp2 to still be in that arguement says enough for it's self. Now 6.1 was released how long ago. I know at least 2 maybe 3 years ago maybe even longer. And still has funtions that neither the iphone or andriod offers. Thats a big plus for WM in my opinion.

Now we have WM 6.5 which was just released last year. Let's be honest this was a very small upgrade to an already old OS. They just added finger freindliness, some more pleasing visual elements, and some newer ways to manage memory. Essentially it's the same OS as WM 6.1. So even to compare WM 6.5 to andriod 2.1 or the iPhone wouldn't completly be fair because as far as funtionality and what the OS does it's the same as WM 6, 6.1 and all the other previous WM versions that we already stated was last generation in terms of hardware and software.

Now why is WM taking there time. Well maybe because they aren't as far behind as you think. Lets take the HD2 which would be the best WM device in terms of specs , and compare it to the iPhone 3GS and Andriod 2.1. The HD2 kills the 3GS in my opinion in speed, pretty visuals (Sense 2.5) and funtionality. And the HD2 compared to the Nexus One or the Droid is a very close comparsion which i still would give the top spot to the HD2 because of business funtionalities. And the HD2 managed to do this with an OLD OS with just updated hardware mind you. The HD2 showed you what WM 6.1 would of been able to accomplish with proper hardware. And WM might not have as bad of a rep if proper hardware would of been mandatory as it is with WM 7.

Microsoft has yet to released it's next gen OS which is WM7, yet there old OS still can battle with the next gen devices. When WM 7 is released i honestly think i will be awesome and be the premier OS that it once was. They got it so right the first time that people forget how good these devices really are. It's crazy that my 528mhz processer device with an OS from 3 years ago can compete with your 1ghz process with an OS that was just released a few months ago. So imagine what WM7 with a 1.5ghz processor will be able to accomplish. I am happy that you guys are satified with your devices as me and all of the other TP2 owners are, but to say that they are betterI disagree. But only time will tell and i can't wait for Mobile World Congress when Microsoft wows the mobile industry with it's revolutionary OS.
