Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800) - ALPHA (buggy. as. hell.)

OK. a few notes have filtered in:

Power collapse isn't working. That would explain the crazy fast battery drain.
ADB seems to be broken on my end. Not sure anyone around here cares.

OK, yeah, I do too.

But I've only seen the ads in free 3rd party apps. I don't like 'em, but I also don't want to buy the full versions of those apps. Nor do I want to learn how to program my own. So I put up with them for now. And hope for more free open source ports to Android.

And though they're google ads, that AdMob stuff is not google's reason for supporting/developing android. They want to control your data -- I doubt pushing ads at you on a slow connection and a tiny screen is really their goal. They want you fully tied into their ecosystem on every device you own (and try to make that a good experience) so that when you do see an ad, they make sure it's one of theirs.

I'm finding the same thing. MrPippy has been trying to make the data channel more stable, but it's still in a pretty raw state. His experience was that when he turned off cdma data and just used wifi, he couldn't even get it to crash. I haven't been that lucky, but I do think the majority of my crashes at this point are cdma data, too.
