Re: Virus Protection for the Imagio?
I think a phone would be a very attractive way (to a hacker/cracker) to introduce a virus/worm/trojan to a pc or corporate network: send malware to an unprotected phone, phone then infects network as it's a trusted source from within the network. That being said, no one's bothered writing a virus for a WinMo phone--yet. If you think about it: banking by phone, corporate/government documents on phones, large contact lists on phones...all tempting bits of information a hacker/cracker might be interested in, sitting out in plain sight, reachable by wifi or internet. To not consider malware on a phone is a bit like the blindered Apple fanbois who claim their toys are too niche-product to be a target for a virus-writer, that "only Windows users have virus problems." All that being said, I'm currently beta testing Kaspersky Mobile Security 9.0, a very nice suite of firewall, antivirus, anti-spam (both sms and phone calls), parental control settings, encryption, privacy protection, anti-theft (gps location, remote erasure of phone and microSD card, phone blocking if SIM card is replaced without authorization) and so on. It seems to have very little memory overhead and has been running beautifully on my phone for two months now. Should be released for sale in the next month or so. Highly recommended. Just my two cents.
