Cool Change the thickness of scrollbars
Tweaks2k2 allows you to narrow the scroll bars to as little as 1 pixel. Not sure if it allows the bars to be removed. One issue is that is narrows all the scrollbars and not just the today screen. EasyTweak Pocket PC Edition 2.0 also has similar options in it.
If you use a registry editor, here are the registry settings for the vertical and horizontal scrollbars....

For the horizontal (bottom) scrollbar:
HKLM\System\GWE\cyHScr = 9 (DWORD decimal)
For the vertical (right) scrollbar:
HKLM\System\GWE\cxVScr = 9 (DWORD decimal)
The default thickness is 13. You can set the value to anything you may like
