I knew as soon as I posted a help thread I would figure it out!
The problem was:
I changed the date display in the reg for a better look in the messaging and the lock screen. Didn't relate it to the problem with the calendar! oops! LOL!
This is the key that I had edited, just in case anybody else has the same problem:
HKLM/nls/overrides/SSDte
