You're missing our point. We aren't arguing about size, we're talking about aspect ratio.

Your phone in portrait is taller than it is wide. Your TV is wider than it is tall. So the image on one will not fit on other unless it either adds bars around itself or ends up stretched.

Have you ever watched a widescreen or letterboxed movie on one of those non-widescreen TV's? You get black bars along the top and bottom. Imagine if you took away the black bars, the image would be twice as tall as it was supposed to be and would be distorted.

That's what you're trying to do. You're trying to take an image that's taller than it is wide and show it on a display that's wider than it is tall. That will result in lots of wasted space along the sides of the image on the TV. Is that what you want?

If you want a full-sized phone image to show up full-sized on the TV without being distorted, it won't work that way.
