no - it's just a registry entry for most software packages. If you use a regeditor to export both hklm and hkcu and search for the software (use notepad2 to open it on your desktop) you can usually find the info. Some will change it in the reg from what you enter, some may be in odd places, but most are in the registry. No other files needed.
