Uh, Windows Mobile phones DO work out of the box. Agian, the Verizon Touch Pro 2 was sold out for over a month because they couldn't keep them in stock. Consumer Reports rated it as the best business device on the market. And this is stock, right out of the box.

As for social networking- there's a facebook app, a myspace app, and several twitter apps. There is also some integration with the OS (at least with Titanium, TouchFlo, the Xperia panel interface, SPB Mobile Shell, and any other interface out there).

There is no way you can claim Windows Mobile wouldn't sell if they advertised when the Verizon Touch Pro 2 stayed sold out for over a month with NO marketing whatsoever, and no stores even having display models to show customers. If they advertised it the way they do the Droid, then it would be the hottest selling device in America right now.

And, again- the X10 runs Android. It's not a Windows Mobile device. Have you seen any marketing whatsoever for it? Of course not. So that pretty much blows your whole "it's because nobody wants Windows Mobile" theory right out of the water.

However, at least Sony will actually sell it to an American if they somehow find out it exists.

HTC, on the other hand, will NOT sell an American an unlocked Australian HD2 once the American finds out it will work on 3G over here. The American is left to deal with high priced middle men. So while Sony doesn't market at all, at least they will actually sell you a device. HTC doesn't market it at all, and won't sell you one either.

HTC deals with carriers in America. They don't care about the public at all. They market what the carriers tell them to, and they won't sell anything directly to the public.
i think when winmo 7 drops we will start getting all the apps that the iphone and android get, what do you think? at first i wasn't really on apps but i can't lie i'm upset that there is an nba gametime app for apple and winmo, thats my favorite sport and it highly angers me.
