Well, to put it bluntly- you're crazy. Please show me how you came to the conclusion that there are more business customers in Asia (or even Europe) than in North America (and specifically, the USA). You're talking about the world's only super power here...

By the way, Apple had no trouble selling their smartphones to the USA first.

Europe may have better GSM coverage than the USA, but what does that have to do with anything? Apple had no problem selling iPhones even though they released it in the USA first (and it was GSM too, I might add). And HTC makes CDMA phones too- they just don't do it until after they have already made GSM versions.

Look at it like this- people were buying the Australian version of the HD2 because it works on AT&T's 3G. Yet HTC has not made any effort whatsoever to advertise it or sell it in the USA. And the same goes for the Touch Pro 2- the Australian version worked on AT&T's 3G long before AT&T had even announced they would carry it. And yet HTC made no effort whatsoever to sell it to Americans.

You could make a case that the carriers are threatening HTC to ignore Americans like that, but it is still HTC caving and actually ignoring the Americans.
I should also add that Blackberry devices usually release to Americans first, and they have no trouble selling either (primarily to business customers).

I'm not saying HTC should ignore the rest of the world and cater to Americans or anything like that. But at the same time, I am pretty sick of them flat out ignoring us. It's like HTC refuses to do any kind of busness whatsoever with the American public. The only way they will sell anything at all to us is through a carrier. And the carrirs here are always the last ones to get HTC devices.

Usually, by the time we get an HTC device here, its lifecycle is at least half over. It looks like HTC actually upgraded the specs (for once) on the device that was already halfway through its life cycle. And the Europeans are flipping out about it. And yet us Americans have been taking the shaft from HTC on every single device they have ever released. We're accustomed to just be happy when we get a device at all. No matter that it is already about to be replaced by a newer and better device- just be happy we got it at all as the last 3 devices didn't even make it over here...
