OK I found a program that lets me decide what the buttons do. It's called
AEBPlus It let me shut off the down button. But leave the up button alone. I can hit the volume up button which brings a screen up when I can increase/decrease the volume. Now I won't have an excuse why I didn't her the phone when the Mrs calls me.
