Also for the TP2 make sure you go into Options and turn the Accelerometer feature OFF as it doesn't seem to work with the TP2 and makes it so that you cannot move your character around by touching the screen.

Yes it is essentially, a newly revised, updated version of the original. Much smoother in my opinion, updated graphics, and there may be a few other differences.
