Well, I would like to be able to do this from my PC using CE RegEditor … hence my question, but so far I’ve been using Total Commander to do this kind of thing… File Explorer won’t do it.
This is the way I have been doing it:
1. If you don’t have a program like Total Commander, you will have to get one. TC is free and it works. Install TC on your phone.
2. Install Active Sync on your PC (I’m running Windows XP… if you’re running Vista you will be using Windows Mobil Device Center) and with a USB cable between your phone and PC, sync them together. In my case, installing active sync on my PC, created a “My Documents” type of folder on my PC desktop.
3. .Put the file you want to copy into the phone’s Windows directory into the “My Documents” folder on your PC (this is the newly created Active Sync folder NOT the PC “My Documents” folder)… it will automatically show up in the “My Documents” folder on your phone.
4. Open Total Commander on your phone and navigate to the “My Documents“ folder there. You will see the file you copied
5. Highlight the file
6. Select File> Copy/Move (bottom of TC screen) and a window will pop up. Select “Tree” from the list.
7. Go down in the tree and select the Windows folder… just highlight it.
8. Press “OK’ at the bottom of the screen.
9. Select Copy or Move from the box and the file will be placed in your Windows Directory.
It sounds more complicated than it is once you get used to navigating around the file structure. Hope this helps.
