I'm getting itchy for a new PPC-phone. My Vogue is well past 2 year contract, so should be able to upgrade inexpensively. But...
Here are some MP3 player functions I reeealy love:
(1) True gapless playback, i.e. no dead air
(2) UI with large song art AND playlist on same screen
(3) Player functions can map to hardware buttons such that while driving, it's possible to make adjustments by feel, without taking eyes off road.
(4) Left (of 5-way nav pad) press starts song over, another press starts previous track, AND press & hold rewinds 5 seconds so I can re-hear lyrics I didn't catch on 1st listen.
(5) Ability to search 15 gigs of songs and play a request or spur of the moment tune, leaving current playlist spot, to be returned to, after request plays - without messing up previous regular playlist rotation.
WinMo/Vogue gives me these NOW. Any "upgrade" might give me a better display, faster processor, etc. But I'd lose these features and sooo many more. It'd be a downgrade for me. Even WM7 now seems to be ruled out from my future hopes due to it requiring heavy hardware, and now we learn MS will not provide backward support for previous WM apps? Android is moving quickly, but not in any direction for my interests. My next phone will either be another Vogue, more likely a re-build of my current Vogue, or something even lighter than its 4.0 oz. Shhh, dreaming about my next device ~ ~ ~
