Re: Why don't Registry edits "stick"?

If anyone's interested, there's a way to edit/see hidden running programs that don't show up int he task manager (such as Opera, for instance):

HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager\ExclusiveList\System

That registry lists all the programs that will run, hidden in the background.

I deleted the Opera9.exe, so I can see when Opera is running in the background, and kill it when I need to via the stock programs manager... since there are times where I want Opera to hold a particular web bage or stay running while I work on somthing else, etc.

Maybe clues to the suspected hidden program is in there somewhere?

I installed the FDcSoft Task Manager and shut down the CM Guardian program. I haven't had any issues with registry edits not working since then. I should say, however, that I do not use the Dynamic Memory Proxy, since I don't feel like memory fluctuating between 55-75% over the course of the day under moderate use is too darn bad. I might try the edit manually, just to see if it sticks after a reset, and I'll report back.
