Most of the "data on" issues are with taskbar not actual data flowing. check batti gague to verify though. run internet and check the gague, turn of internet and if the "data on" is still active, check batti gague, you'll see that battery usage has returned to a "normal" state-----verify you have all data grabbing programs closed (stocks, weather, not pulling e-mail) if all that's done and your still showing "data on" - it a taskbar bug.
