First off, I have to say that I’m a rank beginner. This is my first ever Smart Phone/PPC and I’ve only had it for three weeks. Everything I’ve done with my phone would qualify as “walking in the footsteps of giants”… there are lots of giants on this forum.
I’ve installed many cabs and fixes to get my phone to look like this and I’m not sure that all of them were required. Thankfully, nothing I’ve done has ever “bricked” my phone. So much for the disclaimer.
Here’s what I’ve learned. In these forums it’s recommended that you install two cabs before anything else: “Sdkcerts.cab” and “NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab”, which I did. They seem to allow the changes to come which otherwise wouldn’t be allowed.
As for having transparency behind the Icon bar on the bottom, I’m using a .cab called “Trans Leo Slider and Icons.cab”. I found this in one of Keith Dupont’s posts (I’m sure he should be answering this question instead of me). It gave me the icons as well as the transparency. I’m sure there’s a way to get the transparency behind icons of your choice but I’m not sure how to do that yet.
As far as transparency behind the Task bar, I’m using two .cabs called “Tsowen's Taskbar_v3.cab” and “KD Mod to Tsowens.cab” (again thanks to Keith Dupont”. Perhaps the first gave me the icons and the second the transparency… I’m just not sure.
Also, I’ve had the suspicion that perhaps, in the absence of wallpaper that completely fills the screen, top to bottom, the bars there will be “black”… not a color but an absence of color. It may be that finally installing a full sized wallpaper is what allowed the picture to show up behind these two items.
Sorry to be somewhat vague but as I said, I’m a complete beginner. Others here will answer these questions better than I. I hope I’ve pointed you in the right direction. I should probably “hard reset” my phone and reinstall the things I have just to make sure of what each does but I’m enjoying the look too much right now to do it.
Get a backup program and don’t be afraid to experiment… Good luck!
