I have a crappy internet connection at the moment, so pardon the lack of attached cabs. A quick Bing/Google search should net you all of these...
Also, if you want to get a good idea what an app is like before you install it (which is a good idea,) go to Youtube & search for it. There's undoubtedly a video for almost every app out there.
If I put a $ before it, it's not a freebie.
$ SPB Mobile Shell 3.5
Simply the most customizable and functional user interface available. It blows Touch Flo out of the water, and it's a shame not OEM or carrier has made this part of a new phone's package.

Infinitely customizable.
HTorch... simple LED to flashlight app.

$ 1-Calc
Very nice full feature calculator that is well worth the money.

There used to be a freebie version, but I think they don't offer it, anymore. The .cab may be floating around here, somewhere.
Advanced Configuration Tool, SK Tools...
Can't remember which of these is free or how much they cost, but they're both great at optimizing settings on your phone or YOUR likes/needs.

CorePlayer
Plays ANY media file... even 8tracks. LOL I LOVE this app.

Google Translator.
A quick & easy app that does exactly what Google's language tools website does, but is much faster than having to open a browser & navigate to the site. Just open the app, type in what you need translated & you're good.

$ SPB Time
Great advanced phone/watch app. It has multiple alarms, multiple types of alarms, Lunar calender, countdowns, timers, world time, dozens of skins... The alarms are great. There's "bio" alarms that "gently" wake you, normal alarms, and "paranoid" alarms that go berzerk & require you to solve a puzzle before the phone will shut up. Great for oversleepers.

Total Commander
File Explorer the way MSoft should've done it.

$ WunderRadio
Tune into almost any broadcast radio station that streams their content. You can search by GPS, genre, city, keywords, etc... they, of course, even have internet-only radio stations AND certain Police and Fire scanners. Pretty darn cool.

WebVideoDownload.
Like Youtube? You can watch and download flash videos from Youtube & several other sites... be warned, though... if your bride plays with this app, the 1st three or so websites are "legit" websites. The remainder, and subsequently the bulk of the websites are pRon.

HDWobble
Game? App? I dunno. Take a pic, move it to HDWobble's background folder & then add areas of the picture you'd like to wobble when you shake the phone. While the obvious target is women's breasts, I got a bigger kick out of taking a pic of my boss and his gut & then showing all my coworkers his jelly belly bouncing around. Priceless.

Skyfire & Opera.
I must've missed this, but didn't see it anywhere on here. These two are, imo, the two best WinMo browsers available. Download both in case either doesn't work with your fave site.
Bing/Google 'em.
Waze and Trapster.
Both of these are apps that operate similar to Google Maps. BUT, they interject a little social networking into the mix. Other users notify the system when they see a speed trap, speed camera, wreck, etc... Those notifications show up on your screen when you're using these apps. Of course, you contribute, too. Both are freeware & are easily found via Bing/Google.
Great thread... keep the suggestions coming.
