Its the one bummer about the 700wx's today screen dialer but it's worth it. If you have a call where you need to input letters, just remember right softkey and d. That will take you to the dial pad shown above.
Even though it's a PITA, as least Palm made it very easy to quickly get to the dial pad while you're in the middle of a phone call.
