Did you try just extracting the cab and copying rilphone.dll to /windows? I'd use the cab from HTC's website. I think the cab/files posted by Mike were from a different source (though they might be the same, I haven't checked). If it messes up your ability to send SMS, just delete rilphone.dll from /windows and you'll be back to the ROM version you were using.

I extracted the files from the rar that Mighty posted, and copied the dll to Windows on my device. It killed SMS. I then copied the reg file form the rar to Windows and still no SMS.
I then extracted the files form the cab in the first post using winrar. There was a bunch of them, and they were different from the ones Mighty posted, so I didn't know what to do with them.
Long story short, I had to hard reset and now I am back to square 1.
