Its all in the power ratings on the power brick itself, and usually somewhere on the phone and in the manual...
As Shaska points out the key here is Miliamps.

If your input is low, it will take longer to charge the battery. If its too high you could damage the battery or handset.

I use a DC USB adaptor for several devices then use generic USB cables as charging cables when i charge in car.

Your AC adaptor is 5V 1A so you need to keep it under that.
