Re: Whats everyone using to sync?

Those of you using Google sync are you using it through the Google Apps Premier or is there a Google Sync available for free use?

I played with the Google Apps Premier and for $50/year it isn't bad. I've read about all of the things Google Sync doesn't do (compared to Active Sync w/Exchange), and they're relatively minor in the grand scheme... but I couldn't get the Outlook sync to download to even try that out.

I want to be able to use Outlook & my TP2 to sync with my own email (not gmail) and calendar. Basically the same solution as Google Apps Premier.

As I understand it there are a few things that don't sync through Google that DO in a hosted Exchange setup. For example if I download POP email to a folder (from a Yahoo acct) on one Outlook client on my office PC, activesync will replicate that folder to my exchange account and thus (more importantly) it then gets replicated to any other laptops that I use Outlook to access the same Exchange email on. That wouldn't happen using Google sync, correct? Also I understand that flag for follow-ups (I use this a lot) don't go through google sync so follow-ups I do on one Outlook client won't show up on any others if I was using Google Apps Premier with the outlook sync.

Right now I'm using hosted Exchange through 1&1 for $6.99/month. The cheapest I've found and works without problems. Switching to Google Apps Premier would have saved me $66/year vs hosted Exchange for 2 accounts but not sure if the few minor sync problems would really bother me, and if I was just changing and loosing features, just to change...

Sorry to ramble.
