Update on my configuration... I've been running 2.17 with 1.47.01 radio and 60611 PRL for almost a month now, and the only issues I've had are with PIE freezing temporarily on complex web sites (which seems to happen with PIE in general, regardless of firmware).
I sync emails every 30 minutes for 3 accounts (1 ActiveSync, 1 IMAP, and 1 Windows Live), and I pull the phone off the charger at 8:00am. By 9:00PM I am still in the 80-90% battery range with 2-3 five-minute conversations and a dozen or so text messages throughout the day.
All in all, I am *very* pleased with my performance. I will be testing a couple Bluetooth headsets between now and New Year's, but I have had no roaming issues or memory leaks. All registry tweaks and applications used are available in my FTP folder (linked in signature). Your mileage may vary.
