my roommate's problem turned out to be a very old SIM card that he had been using since 2000... It wouldn't support all of the phone's features. HTC guy figured it out (told T-mobile rep to get off the line), and the T-Mobile store gave him a new SIM and it works fine now.
Very fast, much faster than my Touch running Android 2.0.1!
It feels good, the screen feels nice and is responsive. The soft buttons at the bottom are difficult but then I'm used to using my finger nails for the screen and that won't work on the capacitive screen.
I do like the trackball (dingleberry). And the changes to Android 2.1 are pretty nice. Android navigation is still a bit clunky to me.
Phone felt great though, nice size too.
