Did you read his links? T-Mobile (their German parents, anyway) have enough money to buy Sprint right now if they wanted to. And that is with or without hesse's approval (the company is publically traded, so Hesse can only do so much to fight it). And his link was from September of 09, so not exactly obsolete news.
Not saying it will happen, but you'd be foolish to totally write it off. If T-Mobile decides they want Sprint, then they will get Sprint.
