Edit "look" of threaded messages?

I would like to change the way the WM threaded messages look. Specifically I hate the big/bold blue and green links for Me and the Sender. I want to make what is being said more prominent than who said it.

I have found a file in the Windows directory called read_style.css which I feel SHOULD be the file to change this because the file read_sms.htm calls this css file. I do not know which entry(s) in this file control the look of those links. Since they are "links" in that they link to my contacts data I thought they might be controlled by the a:link and a:visited, but I'm really clueless. Does anyone know?

and finally if I AM right that it's the link parameter I should change, it's currently set to "color:menutext;". What/where is this master system file that defines "menutext". It's used all over the place...it's like menutext is a magic word for everything!
