I for one highly doubt this has anything to do with the fact that the date is a "binary" string. for one its 2010, not just "10". The only thing that is off is the year, so i'd guess theres an issue in the year roll over.

Look at the years in binary:
2009: 11111011001
2010: 11111011010
2016: 11111100000 -> this patter looks more unique then the fact that the date is 01/01/10
