For whatever reason, I think this may be a more general problem associated with calendar widgets.
I solved the problem by switching to "laik agenda widget" from the marketplace. It has an option to "add one day to all day events", which gets things on the correct schedule.
It has a number of display options and sizes as well. Its free, give it a try.
