I'm also having this issue with the ROM version EnergyROM_21885_HERMAN_25.Dec.2009_StandardM2.5. My symptoms are a little different, though. I get the "- GSM" tag at the end of received messages, but when I try to send a text, it shows up as trying to go to the contact's phone number and doesn't send or show up in the list of messages in the Sense Messages tab.

I tried the above instructions, and the texts prior to the fixes seemed to go out eventually, albeit in a huge burst. Now, in order to send texts, I need to select "All Messages" from the Sense Messages tab to open a list of all the messages. I can read them in the tab, but can't send anything since HTC messaging is disabled.

Hope that sheds more light on this issue.

EDIT: Also, the volume buttons do the up/down selection thing and not the volume up/down. I'll try the workaround mentioned earlier.
