Thanks to notaliberal over on XDA you can get the weather to update
automaticaly now!
"Had been trying for some time to get the weather tab (and therefore the weather under the clock) to update more frequently than every 2 - 3 hours. I added the reg entry from a Sense 2.5 ROM, and can confirm that I've got it auto updating weather every half hour!!"
