Re: Debating between phones.

The Motorola Droid is a much better choice than the HTC Eris.

1. Screen- Droid has a 3.7 inch screen that shows 16 million colors while the Eris has a much smaller, 3.2 inch screen with only 65,000 colors. Pictures and videos look clearer and more vivid on the Droid.

2. Processor- Eris is stuck with the same Qualcom 528mhz processor that causes HTCs to lag while the Droid has a Arm Cortex A8 processor 550 mHz similar to that of the iPhone's. When playing a game or using an emulator, the Droid is speedier than the Eris.

3. Size- The Droid is heavier because it is made of metal (while the Eris is plastic) and therefore feels more sturdy to me. This is a matter of personal preferance though.

4. Even though Droid is $100 more, remember that it include a 16GB SD card while the Eris only includes an 8GB one. A new 16GB sd card is around $80-$100 in most places.

5. While the Eris include Sense (and it looks very nice), Sense is a positive and a negative. There is no way to completely turn off sense without jumping through hoops and rooting/flashing a new rom to do so. The Droid comes with 3 home screens but there are many free home screen applications available in the Android Market that can change the number of screens from 3-7. I am using Home++ on my Droid and currently have 5 screens.

6. Android 2.0.1 is already on the Droid while the Eris only has 1.5. The Eris will get an upgrade to 2.0 but it is not confirmed when.

These are just some of my reasons why i feel the Droid is a better choice than the Eris. I suggest that you do like I did and go to the Verizon store and play around with both devices. Open up the same applications on each and look at which one runs the app better, compare design, etc. It all comes down to which device you feel is better for you.
