I'll try this with iGo8 later today and report back.

I will say that I can launch the program with active GPS tracking, turn off the display using the top button, turn on the display again, and everything is as I left it in the GPS software. I don't have to select the program from the UI, it just pops up immediately in the navigation screen. Now to see if it will continue to direct me. I anticipate this will work as I can still listen to various audio only sources when the display is turned off.
