I think the better question would be Why am I not upgrading to WM 6.5. just kidding, all seriousness aside, from my experience you just get more flexibility with a custom rom over stock. it gives you the ability to make your phone yours not just another mindless phone. I think that’s one of the biggest reason's WM is what it is. the ability to grow and be turned into something that you can make yours.
