Music on the TP2 is just a feature. The sound quality isn't bad, but its nowhere near as good as it is on the iPhone.

Yes, I have. I have a universal mount in my car, a VERY high end sound system (most people dont understand the term audiophile, but rest assured, if there is a system that can make your head explode using bouth volume AND clarity, it is installed in my car), and all the correct cabling to use the iphone, touch pro, or touch pro 2.
I have used the iphone, touch pro, touch pro 2, and an itouch all side by side in my car, with the stereo set to the same volume, eq, etc, meaning the only difference is the device playing the music. The touch pro ranked last. It needed some work, but it was not horrible. The itouch and iphone both had the same quality, and they both had the same problem. When the volume on the iphone is maxed out it creates alot of distortion in the signal, so you have to run the volume lower on the phone and crank the amp higher. Other than that, sound quality was fine. The touch pro 2 has no issues with maxing the volume, no issues with distortion, no issues with slow song change, no issues whatsoever. Furthermore, it has a better frequency response than the iphone. the iphone/itouch lack some of the highs and lows that really make a good sound system shine, the touch pro 2 delivers them fully, without a hitch.
These tests were performed using a jailbroken iphone 3gs, itouch v2 (not jailbroken), touch pro with silence 6.5 utilizing windows media player, and touch pro 2 with mighty rom utilizing the tf3d player.
Bottom line is, the touch pro 2 is the best sounding mobile media device i have ever heard, and dont get me wrong, the iphone sounded good until now.
