I'm not sure cfcgui (editing tool for manila bitmap files) has been updated to work with 2.5 yet, that might explain the lack of mods.
Only 2.5 specific mods will work, anything else will likely mess up - I can't even begin to describe how completely different 2.5 is from previous Manila versions.
Once cfcgui is ready, I usually do some visual customizations, including clear clock sort of like NRGz.
