I use GarminXT quite a bit also & it has no need for GPSgate.

GarminXT does lag slightly behind my built in the dash Garmin unit (every phone GPS I've ever tried did that, anybody claiming their's doesn't is FOS) but the lag isn't enough to worry about (you would not really notice it if the "real GPS" wasn't running right next to it)
