I just looked at the ROM I have cooked up it has ARCSOST MMS 5.2.2.37 cooked in and it's running Manila 2.1 Gen. Y R1.5

With manila 2.1, mms works fine as it is still using the native windows sms application. Manila 2.5 has its own standalone app that replaces the windows app, but mms just doesnt want to work right. So the solution was to skin the old native messaging client to behave like the new one, its even integrated into manila. This is what mwalt2 is talking about.
