You do NOT have to disable HTC messages
I repeat....
You do NOT have to disable HTC messages
One more time....
You do NOT have to disable HTC messages
#1 keep in mind this specific fix is for VERIZON, as i do not have reg keys for Sprint or Metro but a clever person can figger it out.
arcsoft is still cooked in last i checked.
that being said......
yes you CAN run the disabler... but as i said, all it will do is make arcsoft launch when you press the "all messages" left softkey while on the sms tab. arcsoft will then proceed to handle ALL your sms/mms needs.
i did this for my wifes phone as she prefers the familiarity of arcsoft due to her being a longtime user of it as her messaging interface.
personally, i like the new manila stufs so i decided to not disable it.
now, i just let manila handle my sms as usual and when i get an mms... and cannot open/download it in manila i fire up arcsoft and let IT download mms messages for me.
you need to have the proper reg entries for arcsoft tho.
they are as follows:

now theres one VERY important thing here....
"X-VzW-MDN"="15555555555"
where 15555555555 is YOUR OWN PERSONAL PHONES NUMBER
1+(3digit areacode)+(3digit prefix)+(4digit suffix)
mms will NOT function w/o this MDN (mobile device number) reg key on verizon.
as a side note... this reg key does not exist in any of the manila messaging reg entries that i have found (and i suspect it may be the reason htc messaging is broken for cdma users ie. sprint/verizon)
anyhow, with these reg entries i have both htc (for sms) and arcsoft (for mms) running on my phone... and i can send/recieve mms just fine.
in fact, manila will actually inform me that i have an mms message waiting, but when i slide the tab to messaging and try to view it, it shows no attachment. however, i am now on the sender messaging history screen and the right softkey now says "menu". if i select "menu" then from the dropdown, select "all messages" it fires up arcsoft from within manila and i can view my mms message that way. no need to even leave the messaging tab, no need to goto "start->internet->messages"
all can easily be handled within manila using the methods ive described for verizon users.
hope this helps all you verizon users
an adept sprint/metro user could probably find the equiv reg entries and modify my instructions accordingly.
good luck all
