I carefully shaved off a bit of plastic on the left and right walls of this charger using a box cutter razer blade knife to allow the HTC Hero to fit into the charging dock, and it worked perfectly! I used just a little bit of sharpie pen to touch up the lightened plastic that happened during the shaving and it looks like the Hero was made to live in this charging unit (minus the wrong battery type for the extra charing unit). The one in the ebay picture I linked looked like it would probably also be able to stand the slight modification to allow for the Hero to dock as well, plus since the TP2 and hero use the same battery, then you would be in good shape.
I will be happy to post a picture of the modification if anyone is interested.
