I used the first tutorial it walks you through step by step but I will admit it was a little confusing at first if you have never had to use command prompts. But fortunately there is an easier method with a video tutorial provided in the thread as well so that should help you to get rooted.

Once rooted and flashed to the rom of choice. I recommend Fresh 0.6b (Nice Rom and has files optimized and zip aligned already). You can then just flash the optimizations over the rom using the zip file in this thread, which I believe was your question, how to flash that zip file, correct?

Well as you have read you need to boot into recovery mode. There are many ways to do this but what I have found to be the easiest is with the root manager app. You can find that app in this thread:

This app is very convenient. Once installed you can just launch the app, select reboot options, and then select the reboot into recovery option. Once nandroid recovery screen boots up select update zip, or choose zip if you have multiple update files on your sd (then select appropriate update). You should do a backup before flashing also if you want to be able to revert back to previous setups. That should take care of it for you.

I figured it out it just took me a while. You guys have both been a help i've had this thing since the first day it came out i just now realized the options this thing has. Can't wait for a kitchen to come into place. Thank you for the tutorial this should probably be made into a sticky.
