It's a bug with how the threaded app interacts with the contacts and the stock messaging program. If we could make a custom ROM and replace the stock messager with the threaded one, I bet that would fix all of the problems.

I thought the general consensus was that it worked and worked well, with no issues (except for MMS). Possibly you did an install while the Messaging app was open or you have an issue with your contacts DB.
Anyways, moot point as the original question: who will rip threaded SMS from the WM6 750 has been answered--t'was done a looong time ago
