I'm getting 502 Bad Gateway errors this AM so I'm not sure about Three's link to xda.
However,
afaik the zenyee HTC disabling cab listed in the threads attached files (link in my sig) works to knock out HTC Messaging, you could try that. I've used it in the past but not on the current version, if it doesnt work the cab should be easily removed.

I cant stand how Activesync is constantly running in the background. I use the program below to kill it, but not remove it. You may occasionally still see it running in the task manager but the developer says that is normal, it isnt really doing anything. And if it is running the program should find it and stop it. Hope that helps.
